Pausing today to remember

September 11, 2012 The OBSERVER

We will never forget where we were 11 years ago this morning.

As America looked on in shock and disbelief, jets flew in to the World Trade Center towers, crashed into the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania. More than 3,000 died in the attacks.

Today, we all should pause to remember those who have lost their lives in the war on terror, which started on Sept. 11, 2001. Remember those who perished in the attacks. Remember those who have perished while defending the United States. And, remember those who are currently serving across the globe.

September 12, 2012 It has been 11 years since the terror attacks and many remember as if it were yesterday. The Dunkirk Firefighters Local 616 held its annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony to ensure we did not forget…

KEVIN BEGOS, Associated Press PITTSBURGH (AP) — More and more people are visiting the Flight 93 National Memorial in rural western Pennsylvania, authorities say, and new construction is scheduled to begin next year.

At the current pace, more than 1,000 bus groups will visit the park this year, almost double the number in 2011, said King Laughlin, vice president of the Flight 93 National Memorial Campaign. More than 200,000 people are expected to visit this year…

WTC memorial magnificent, but at a steep price

September 10, 2012 Associated Press

DAVID B. CARUSO and DAVID PORTER, Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) — With its huge reflecting pools, ringed by waterfalls and skyscrapers, and a cavernous underground museum still under construction, the National Sept. 11 Memorial and Museum at the World Trade Center is an awesome spectacle that moved and inspired some 4.5 million visitors in its first year.

But all that eye-welling magnificence comes with a jaw-dropping price tag. The foundation that runs the memorial estimates that once the roughly $700 million project is complete, the memorial and museum will together cost $60 million a year to operate.

The anticipated cost has bothered some critics and raised concerns even among the memorial’s allies that the budget may be unsustainable without a hefty government subsidy…

We are back and continue to be a voice of unabashed conservative values and common sense solutions. We are in the process of revamping this site and look forward to bringing you commentary and opinion in the near future.

Our entire Country is at a crossroads, so too is every entity therein, from top to bottom, east to west, and visa versa, everything is at stake in the battle of 2012. Having achieved much success in the battle of 2010 to right the listing ship of America, there is still much to be done, and many more battles to fight to get Washington, NY State, and our County, back on their proper course.

With the finances of virtually every municipality in jeopardy, debt and deficits run amok, entitlements out of control to the enth degree, regulatory burdens crushing our economy and our prosperity, our liberties threatened like never before, the legislative process often having run afoul of its proper intent, checks and balances broken down, to which you can find examples of all throughout every level of government, the time has come once and for all to fight.

We must fight to restore proper constitutional principles, to adhere to American values and traditions that for generations have led to our success, individually and as a nation, to return to a proper perspective of simple right and wrong which includes the recognition that good and evil exist, and ultimately to put the proper restraints back on government so the we may all prosper and truly be free, not only for our current generation but more importantly for those to come. Just as our title states that “Our County Deserves Better”, so do they, so do we all!
